There are a few minis that are open-pollinated and some that are hybrids. Why not chance it and see what happens.

Those are likely Jack-Be-littles and mine came true from seed - in my compost pile ! I let them grow and they did fine.

Old, old post but figured I'd share my experience. I bought a mini-pumpkin a 4 years ago and saved the seeds. Have been growing them each year since. Some plants come true to type and others are off.

First year I got two different shaped pumpkins but both types were minis. Second year they were fairly uniform. Third year (last year) I got both minis and normal sized pumpkins from them.

No chance of cross pollination in my yard since they were the only squash I grew and none of the immediate neighbors have a vegetable garden. So the variability has to be because the original pumpkin I bought was a hybrid and/or it is because they were cross pollinated at the farm I bought them from.
