Some interesting things happen in our gardens.Plants that
are seperated by long distances are brought together.
Mine is Salvia darcyi x microphylla "Silkes Dream".
The other plants I have together in one garden are
Salvia greggii,microphylla,coahuilensis,lycioides,
a few f-2 jamensis & Red Velvet hybrids and S x Riverside.
It makes for some seedlings that one can look forward to seeing the following year.I still need to put a Salvia chamaedryoides in the mix.

I've been collecting as much of my salvia seed as I can manage, figuring that there will be hybrids. But I guess it is a lot of work (and patience) to wait and see what turns up from any potential crosses. My year round hummers do get around my yard quickly, so I don't think plant proximity necessarily has much to do with it.
