what happened to my bean seeds?

Started opening some dried pods from my yellow wax beans tonight to save the seeds and found several where the internal white portion of the seed expanded out of the black seed coating. I'm assuming they are not viable but would love to be wrong. Is it a genetic defect causing this or something else?

I have had this happen to some of my been seed. Sometimes they actually start sprouting inside the bean and other times it is an incomplete seed coat. It always happens when the pods get damp or very cold for me. I end up throwing them in a pot of beans I am cooking.

Thank you! I've been looking and looking online for anything about this...nothing!! As long as its not a weakness in the plant/gene that caused this I think will save the intact seeds from pods with these in them. Was worried that I would be passing on a problem rather than trying to eliminate it.
