Lots of great shade grasses, specially for a zone 7 - Carex morrowii cultivars, Millium, Luzula, Hakonechloa, Chasmanthium, even bamboo if you select and accomodate it properly. None except for the bamboo grow exceptionally tall, though.

Take a look at Ribbon Grass (Phalaris arundinadea). It does really well in partial shade....see link below.

Northern sea oats will take morning sun and shade. I like it because its appearance is similar to bamboo. Gets about 2-3' tall, and puts out pretty little seed heads, and it does seed itself. In fact, I grew mine from seed. They are very easy. Also, Japanese blood grass will take morning light and shade. You may not get the "extreme" red coloration, but you will get some. Also, variegated liriope will grow in shade. I like the gold and green stripe cultivar.

Arrhenatherum elitius bulbosum 'Variegatum' (Variegated bulbous oat grass) is very shade tolerant, small, and very well-behaved.

Molinia caerulea "variegata" (Variegated moor grass) is another great smaller grass for shady/partially shady sites.

Bottlebrush grass will grow in part shade. Grows 3-5' with attractive seedheads.
