Monardas are nice. 'Jacob Cline' is a brilliant red and gets about 4-5' tall in good moist soil. For a more delicate look, some of the thalictriums are about the right height and have lovely, delicate foliage and flowers. Cimicifugas might be good also.

Aconitum (monkshood). Although if the shade is particularly dark, it might not do well. Mind you, in that case, you're going to have difficulty finding anything tall that would do well.

How about perennial Lobelia? My mom has a beautiful red that loves moist soil, stays narrow and blooms a lot.

I would go with Cimicifuga.

I second cimicifuga also; I doubt any of the others mentioned would do well in shade. Another possibility might be tall meadow rue, if you can find it. It's a Thalictrum, though I don't know the species, and it's native in my woods. It can go to 6 ft.

I don't know if you might be interested in a Fatsia Japonica but it will grow in shade, fast growing and at maturity will be around 6' tall, flowers (creamy/white but not showy), has interesting folaige and will last for years. It will get bushy if left to grow on its own. Might be a good candidate for a large container in your corner, though.

Right, cimicifuga perfectly fits description 'tall and narrow in shape'.
Ligularia 'Rocket' probably have more interesting foliage, but it will be wider than cimicifuga.
Hard to find, but astilbe chinensis 'Purple Candles' ('Purpurkerzes') will grow to 48"+ and will stay in a relatively narrow clump to 18" wide. One of the latest blooming astilbes, so it keeps good looking foliage till frost.
