I sprinkle blood meal lightly around my yard. Be careful--if you put too much, it will smell rotten when it gets wet.

I also put hair clippings from the local barber shop on the ground.

I don't see rabbits in my yard now.

I've tried a product called Plantskydd (it's concentrated dried blood). The yard looks like something's been butchered and it smells, but it works....in the summer. My problem is all winter. Every spring after the snow melts, my new shrubs are twigs. (I have 3 year old shrubs that never got bigger than 2'or so). I've tried liquid fence, hair clipping, even canes cut from rose bushes surrounding the shrubs. I wonder if there's something I can do in the fall to keep the critters from feasting all winter.

Call your county extension agent office. They may have suggestions.

Perhaps you could feed them something else. Maybe even throw alfalfa pellets in a neighbor's yard?

Get a bag of Lilorganite from your garden center. Sprinkle a little around the plants. Repels deer and rabbits. Lasts all season. I swear by it.
