I just had to share my excitement with all you other urban gardeners! My 4th floor, alley-facing, smack-in-the-city, first-year balcony garden had it's first hummingbird this afternoon! I saw the thing from my kitchen counter and thought - that's a heck of a bee, or dragon fly, or something, but then closer inspection (albeit a second or 2) revealed that it was in fact a hummer!

I am so excited. It feels like an accomplishment, and I am quite proud!
