I recently expanded my garden from being just a small patch in the front to extend around the side of my house, at the and of it I kind of made it stick out a bit with a round end.

A problem I have encountered is that the corner of my roof extends just over the rounded part and drips down horribly while it rains and for sometime after, these droplets hit the garden with extreme force and cause a lot of soil and mulch to splash up in many directions.

I want to get some kind of shrub or plant to put there so that it looks nice and absorbs the blows from the water but a friend told me that it wouldn't work. Is he right or would I be able to plant some kind of nice garden-like foliage there to take the hits for the garden?
