There are lots of things we can all do to improve our methods. We're in PNW, and so are a few others. IMHO: sunlight is the most important factor. Have you read Gardening West of the Cascades?

I agree sun is the biggest factor. If you are using containers, find there the best sun is (8 hrs a day or so) and move them there. I also could be you need bigger containers. What are you growing in what sized containers?

I used to live there and I didn't have good luck with veggies in pots (succulents opposite).

You need every scrap of sun and esp. HEAT that you can get - strawbales to capture heat, pieces of concrete, dark rocks, water jugs, walls o' water, anything.

Peppers? Ugh. I gave those up. Shortest season tomatoes, and be prepared in a day to pull them and hang somewhere.

Try cool season crops as well to get some wins and keep you going. You can do it, you just have to try hard and be prepared for lower yields. I do miss the rhodies and berries while backpacking...
