How are you going to keep the grass and "weeds", whatever they a re, from invading your moss. i think you need to think about this a bit more.

I really miss everyone there! Transplanted to the adirondacks a decade ago. I visit as often as possible. I did find something of interest.... Irish moss. I have never tried it however, I am thinking about it. It is low growing and should like the damp Syr. climate. Tiny leaves form a danity,densely matted mosslike clumps 2-4" high. It claims to spread quickly,takes traffic(kids and pets) and seldom needs clipping. Best of all, it claims to stay green all yr(I wonder if this means you can see it under all the snow?) It is accented by tiny white flowers mid spring to sumer. Flourishes in full sun to part shade. spacing 10to12" apart.
