suggestions for fenceline planting

I have a fenceline 100 ft long which is shaded by my neighbors trees.I have planted a single row of spreader yews 10 ft apart which will eventually grow 10 ft tall.Right now this area looks pretty sparse. At the end of the row in the corner I planted a grouping of mahonia(4)& lower growing rhododendrons(2).My question is what shrubs can I grow in front of the yews in groupings that will give multi season interest & stay unger 5 ft tall. This fronter row will extend into the lawn & get more light, but little direct sun. Thanks for any suggestions.
