jlm3182, I transplanted some a few weeks ago, and it's doing absolutely nothing. The lettuce and beets transplanted well and are showing growth, but the spinach just sits there and hasn't grown at all. It's still nice and green, but small.

I second granny's statement. My spinach is just hanging out, but I saw some transplat spinach in the store the other day, so maybe it just grows slower or takes a bit of adjustment to being transplanted.

I did it last year and didn't have any trouble. My spinach was enormous.

Carolyn, that good Oregon soil is what did it. I don't think much grows in AZ sand! Except cacti and oleanders....they're growing well.

Like Ribbit, I'm hoping it's just transplant shock and they'll all perk up and grow like mad soon.

LOL, my veg never touches our Oregon soil, lol. I'd still give you my spinach for you lettuces granny!!

I've transplanted spinach on the past, and last year as well, and I make sure I try not to disturb the roots at all. I'll do seeds in 3x3 peat pots and plant out in these. Generally have no trouble.

I can't say. I transplanted spinach last year only to figure out that it was green onions I transplanted and had to move them. I must say the onions took to being transplanted twice VERY well, they're the only things still living from last year, hehe.

As for spinach, last year I direct sowed. I'll do it again.

I was giving some spinach slips that were grown in a garden. When replanting them, i used seaweed mixed with water after planting them, and it rained last night and today, today the leaves look dead. I realize that i should not have used seaweed right away. Will the plants recover and should i clip the dead leaves and see if they recover from the roots? Thanks!
