I also have a cereus. 15 years if not longer. Sits under my back porch. It does not get any sun ever,but plenty of light. I have a friend she has one in a hanging basket. Mine is in 15gl container in good draining soil add little soil on top twice a year. Also keep it pruned and fertilize every two weeks with halve the strength. last year in one of her blooming sperts I counted 22 blooms all in 3 days from each other. Hope this helps
