I was able to find some at an Ace Hardware. The big box stores near me only had giant size cans. So, if you have Ace near you or some other smaller hardware store you can probably find it there.

My local Walmart has boiled linseed oil for about $7 for a small (1 quart maybe) can of it.

If you go with tung oil or linseed oil you might want to make sure they are 100% pure and food safe--sometimes mixes containing solvents are sold as tung oil or linseed oil. I have heard but don't know for sure that heavy metals are added to boiled linseed oil to make it dry faster.

Especially with the tung oil. most tung oil sold in stores isn't actual tung oil or at least has very little actual tung oil in it. Real pure tung oil is quite expensive. You could also probably use mineral oil. I personally used linseed oil. It was relatively cheap and readily available at the local hardware store.

You might want to look at shellac, thin it with denatured alcohol to make thinner and it's all natural.

All of the above are pretty useless. I would use something like Thompson's watter seal.
