Xeriscape Post Tilling Question

So I tilled up my front yard and created some "raised type" areas to plant my native plants in... I have leveled the areas I am going to rock but didn't level the raised areas. There are clumps of grass and clumps of dirt. I was planning on covering the entire area with a weed barrier then planting. My question is, Do I need to worry about the clumps?

and just to clarify - The part I'm not covering with rock I'm covering with mulch - so mulch/rock will cover the weed barrier. The clumps aren't big and I figure once covered with weed barrier and then mulch or rock it will forgive the clumpyness anyways.

The clumps sound to me like the beginings of good soil. I would cover the raised beds with the clumps in them for a couple weeks with plastic to kill the weed seeds and allow the clumps to deompose.
