Melon Patch

Hello Folks,

New to the forum - I'm sure this will be a great resource. I have a 3x4 area that I would like to make into a melon patch. I seeds for the following: Cantaloupe, Crimson Sweet and Cool Green Melon. Can I get some clarification about spacing? Should I plant one in each square foot? I saw an earlier post with suggested spacing but it mentioned vines vs. bush and I have no idea what these are. Can you tell I'm a total newbie?

Are you planning to grow them vertically on a trellis or let them trail over the sides of the box?

I want to keep it simple - let them trail . I'm not mind letting them go wherever they want!

You don't have enough information to let us know what is beyond the melon patch. If it is in the middle of your garden and other crops are surrounding it, you don't have enough room for all three. If it is in the middle of the lawn, then you have enough room.
