My 11 apple varieties do just fine getting through the week long spells of appx. 100 deg. with near constant 20-30 mph winds, I don't however. I suggest asking your question in the Orchards Forum, there may be some folks there growing in temps. higher than mine.

Have you tried asking at your local Cooperative Extension Office? They should have access to this info.

Apple tree NEED a certain minimum number of yearly hours of low temperatures ("chill hours"). For your climate, your problem is more likely that there are too few chill hours per year for most cultivars.

Twilde: Different apples have different chill times. A few apples have been bred for Southern California climate, including Anna's, Einshemer and Beverly Hills. I don't know if these ones do well in your area, but I do know that Yucaipa to the west of you gets cold winters and hot summers and is known as an apple growing area. For specific information on your area, you can go to Kuffels Creek or Dave Wilson Nursery site.
