Building boxes with rocks or concrete blocks?

Hi,

Has anyone used "moss rock" or basic landscaping rocks to build a more "au naturel" type of raised bed?

I was thinking of sustainable alternatives to wood and my mom suggested the rocks.

I got the idea after seeing a really cool picture on the SFG Winner's page with the concrete retaining wall blocks:

It's the top image, with the beds built of the concrete retaining wall blocks.

I like the look of them but at a cost of almost $200 per 4x4 that's a bit pricey. (That's also high, because I want to make my beds 12-15" deep.)
