violet_z6 had one where she had some really cool stuff in it. let me see if i can find it. i can't but she also has those pillars and plants things in them too. its wayyyy awesome!!

Tiered beds are fun, and have some benefits and negatives.

Positives:

+More Mix for longer roots
+Less work making grids for spacing
+Looks cool
+Don't have to bend down as much, easier access.

Negatives:
-Casts Shade
-Gotta keep adding to the top levels because the mix keeps sinking down.
-More expensive to make, and you gotta use alot more mix!

Shade in GA may not be a bad thing, I wonder if there might be some ingenious way to put some netting or screen? at the bottom of the tiers...of course this would negate the deep rooting benefit, but would save on sinking soil?

WOW now them are some awesome beds!! ummm do you make them hollow til the top layer or do you fill all the way to the top with the mix? those are some awesome tiers!! i'm amazed!! :')) i look at everyone's sq ft beds and i see how beautiful they are an want them so bad!!

Thanks! The only benefit to me is less bending over to work in the garden. I guess the added depth of the top tier allows for deeper root systems. Mainly I just liked the look...
