Anyone else trying a podocarpus yew?

I fell in love with this plant when I visited my friend in Atlanta and saw one growing in his yard. Found one at K-mart of all places! Seems fairly hardy (has survived 11 unprotected). Anyone have one that has seen lower than this? It should be fairly hardy as I have read that it is grown on the northernmost Japanese island (Hokkaido?).
