Blooms on my plants

I read a post recently where the person had large plants with blooms early in the season. Someone said she should remove the blooms because the plant was giving off energy to create the fruit when it should be using all its energy to make the plant grow. Discuss this please.

It depends upon the species and how old the plant is.

Tomato plants. They are store bought, about 18" tall. I pulled the blooms off, There are five plants, the first two being the largest. They haven't started to climb up the strings yet. I pulled them off because I want them to start up that trellis and grow tall.

I don't pull any blooms off anything, except maybe thin fruit trees (apples, pears).

Some tomatoes never climb high and stay only 2-3 feet tall when mature. Some tomatoes grow as high as a house (Big Boy).

I wouldn't wait for them to climb, just enjoy the fruits.
