OK, new to both concepts really. I have found myself with WAYYYYYY to many plants (new Greenhouse, eager planter, nearly 100% germination rates, you know how it goes)...any hoo....I was thinking, well if SFG beds/boxes really only need to be 6 to 8 inches tall, why not a single plant in a 10 inch container with the same mix? I find myself with a lot of open space to place these in (I would mainly have squash, cantelope and watermelon in them and would consider eggplants that I have about ready to transplant for the first time since germinating)

I have 3 SF boxes 4x8 and 3 that are 2x2 with various plants in them (peppers, chard, basil, more squash, watermelon, cantelope, cucumber, and I intend to do beets, carrots, maybe some late season tomatoes etc.

The containers would get the same amount of sun as the SF boxes, and could be watered as needed. Any comments, thoughts, suggestions would be appreciated.

I've been selling and giving away many veggies and herbs, and I still have a WHOLE bunch. I just hate to see them go to waste. I have plenty of people to give stuff to and would also try selling the surplus produce (if I get so lucky).
