I don't see why not. I've heard of folks using swimming pools, and that seems similar.

Are you talking about making a home made still or something? or planting a garden in it? You could probably plant at least 2 heads of cabbage in the live well....How big of a livewell does it have? ⺠Ok, just kidding. Can you get a photo of 1, and let us see exactly what you're talking about? I'm sure we can come up with something.

    EG

i think so, i know the one is 15ft and the widest part is ohhh probably 5ft? i think i could lay down easily in there. so i'd say 5ft. he did say it was a 15 footer, the other is about the same size. ok now what the heck is a livewell?? LOL ~Medo

ya don't forget this baby is totally gutted, so the only thing is that fiberglass frame thingi. so LOTS of room for soil and plants!!! just looked up the livewell!! LOL ~Medo

A livewell is where you put the fish you catch, to keep them alive until you get home.

hmmmm.....Yeah, a couple of ideas are coming together.

You could ask that walmart greeter in jeni's posted message. I'm sure he could put some drain holes in it.

Ok,ok,ok,ok.......Here's what I would do, if I wanted to build myself a weird, freaky, talk of the neighbors square foot livewell planter boat garden. I would lay some professional grade landscaping fabric on top of the ground, then put maybe 2" of large gravel on top of that. Then, I would lay the "weird thing" on top of the gravel. I would then put gravel down on both sides of the " weird thing - so it wouldn't try to rock back and forth. Get in the "weird thing" with a drill, and drill alot of holes in the bottom of it for the water to drain out. Finally, add growing medium for planting lots of cabbage(especially in the livewell). TADA! Problem solved.

    EG

Medo & EG - Are you 2 at it again? Hehe!

LOL now drills, that's something tabor and i can do!! LOL
don't ya know great minds thinkin here!! LOL coming in to help with the thoughts?? :')
ok i take it you like lots of cabbage?? LOL
so what size of bit?? we've been using 13/32 for all the holes in the tumbler composter. do ya think that'd be ok for that to?? i know hubs pretty much said i could use that although he hates the idea of "that guawdy looking thing" in the yard!! i said awww honey, we could make it look cool!! dont worry!! LOL anyhow it'll make everyone talk about something!! i'll name it hmmmmm.......medo's secret stash!! man will that get everyone going!! LOL hubs is a cop (part time so far) so that will be really funny!! LOL ya! i LOVE to give him a hard time about stuff!! i told him i was gonna grow divornium just to get him going!! LOL ahhhhh man!! ya shoulda seen his face!! LOL of course this was befor the ban went in here in ks! **sigh**
    ~Medo

Great idea! I would go for it. I'm glad I read this thread as I am starting to think of things I can recycle into a garden! I bet it looks really cool, too.

    ~Angela

How big to drill holes...Well, I think if it were me - I would drill some 3/8" in the very bottom - all along the lowest point say....maybe 6" apart (and on both sides), then put a piece of screen on top of that (like they use for screen doors and porches). You can get this at lowes. That'll keep your dirt from falling out or clogging the drain holes. If you want to make it look cool, just take a few of those little statue looking little guys that are holding a fishing pole - and set them on the edge where it looks like they are fishing in the boat (not from the boat), and plant some pole beans that will run up the lines/poles! That would be kinda cool. Just don't interfere with the livewell, it's reserved for CABBAGE.LOL

LOL i'm totally laughing!! livewell and the cabbage!! LOL ok ok i got that!! LOL **big grinn**
that sounds awesome!! i'll have to do that!! yes we're buying some of that screen, he wants to buy just some, i want to buy the roll, for the front porch, so it'll be screened in. my other thing is in that screened in porch i want to put a ceiling fan out there, he say's i'm nuts!! i'm like, no sweetie, i want to spend some time out there with my plants, so i think it would be nice, and i did see it on one of those shows, but they also had a mist system hooked up so you could get nice and cool!! he thought i went loco then!! geeze!!! **sigh** **grinning though**
i was also thinking about what kinda plants i could plant around the boat that would look nice, (do any of you go to the seed exchange part??) i did the winter sowing and i think i will this time too. and also some in the green house so i can get some started early to see the difference also!! LOL and tomatoes and bell peppers all year??!!! LOL i have a friend who grows them all year long in his house. he just goes by and shakes them he said that pollinates them. i thought how cool!! LOL
i traded my hubs my xd 45 for a green house, he bought the xd but i thought you know what i'll never really use it, and i'll always use the green house!! LOL he went for it!! YAY!!
    ~Medo

I don't go to the seed forum, or winter forum either. I can only think of 3 things I would plant on the outside of the boat....psst....don't tell anybody....but, you're gonna need something to go with all of the "you know what", that's growing in "you know where". Carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower . That way you can steam them together..yummy! LOTS of carrots, like - fifty eleven of them. Also - I don't know what an xd 45 is, is it similar to a colt 45?

    EG

yep!! only better!! LOL had one of those too!! LOL
ya how about some okra, corn, maybe some rhubarb? maybe some perennials of flowers? i think i read somewhere that there was somekinda perennial okra, don't remember where though. now that would be awesome!! my one goal is to get perennial garden!! i could put some asparagus around there too. hmmmm.... but i can't forget the beneficial plants!! to keep the critters away!!! LOL ~Medo

Perennial garden...hmm....can't help you there. I really don't know what I would put around it. Another thing it could be used for - is to stack some big rocks all around it, and turn it into a water garden. That'd be cool.

    EG

ohhh man!! i did always want one of them!! and there WILL be two of them!! :') hmmmm....put it close enough to talla's fairie garden and talla'd be totally happy!! LOL but of course my kids are pretty easy to please!! LOL
the thing i like about the seed exchange is... you can get the seeds you want for practically cheap!! i'm freakish about trading!! i did alot of sasbe's and in 3 months i had 2 boxes of seeds!! i took all the one's i wanted out of them and had a sasbe thing and then only traded for the one's i wanted (or thought i wanted LOL i am female after all!! LOL) so my winter sowing i had over 200 different little container thingi's. not to mention the deep cell packs and the 72 cell pack!! the kids alone had 200 and some that they winter sowed for thier homeschool project!! it was so fun for them to see that THEY could winter sow and grow something. talla was more amazed then tabor at some points! LOL
i'm trying to sell the hubs on the idea of the water garden for the second boat. he's slowly coming around, so i'm telling him talla'd really love it!! i know how the system works!!! LOL **slyly thinking, he he he he he!!! LOL** **big grinn** ~Medo

You could construct a triangular trellis that looks like a mast - maybe some Ivy growing on it? I'm pretty sure that you'd be able to trim the ivy to keep the shape without hurting the plant(s).

What a nifty project! Man, I'd get shot for even thinking about something like that!

i knda like that idea!! or i could grow them veggies up it, or are ya talking about for the rock/water garden one??
your hubs wouldn't let you do that? i can't bleieve mine is letting me do this, but if it wasn't for talla wanting it, i don't think he would, and for him having to put out so much money on wood, LOL he's an aquarian, so i know how he thinks!! i'm also aquarian, LOL same days!! if ya can believe that one!! LOL
if he does get hired on at wabunsee county full time, i ought to do this while he's gone at training, i think its 16 weeks for the cop thing, awwwww can you imagine his face when he comes back???? LOL ya know with the mast and all!!!
ROFL just thinking about it!!!! LOL OMGoodness my gut is gonna ache!!! LOL ok so this will be great!! i still need to go down to ottis's to get the pic of the boats so ya'll can see what we're working with!! LOL and the yard to see what else we're working with!! LOL HE HE HE HE its kinda a mess now, cuz of all the rain and that dang quack grass is a pain in the buns!!!! it just grows like crazy!!! nothing kills that and all my seeds were dumped in the beds. so that really sucks!! but now i'm thinking of what could be!! all the pretty flowers!!.......ok,. one of the beds is coming along AGAIN, tabor is redoing them, LOL ~Medo

i think the crazy things may be squash bugs :'( and they are full grown!!! ohhhh no!! what now!!??? ~Medo

Uh oh! Have you been to the gourds, squash, and pumpkins forum?

no, will they know what to do?? i poured all of my one stuff all over the "infected" area. errrrr!!! i'm sooooo irritated now!!! i had a beautiful patch of tomato's now not so pretty on one bunch! but, its still pretty!! i'll go check them out!! ~Medo thanks!!

Hmmmm....I was thinking about the bugs you have. If your vegetables are very close to each other, you can basically find a cucumber beetle, squash bug, or stink bug anywhere. I found a striped cucumber beetle on one of my tomato plants this evening. I was like "hey little fella, are you lost"?

    EG

Oh nooooooooo! You said cucumber beetle!!!!! I'm out of here before you spread them back this way!

thank goodness its just pc!! and can't spread real live bugs!! :') i processed all of my food in the fridge and this time nothing exploded, although i didn;t try to put any corn cobs in the food processor, yessss i did that!! LOL and yep!! it went allll over the place!! so i said, well, honey, do ya still want to do taco tuesday?? i'm hungry!! and we went and ate and i cleaned up later!! it was a mess!!!! LOL
this time it went smooothly!! LOL so now it has much easier things like processed food, and shredded paper and tomarrow it will have some horse poo, and some grass clippings and some childrens pee to make it go even faster, but i wonder if it really needs their urine? with the nitrogen in the manuer? but i did watch/read in another youtube thing about how to make compost in 14 days. it was very interesting!! i'll show ya the link its what REALLY interested me!! LOL

ya, they are close to each other. and laying down unfortunately we didn't get them up, its been to hot!! and that dang humidity is kicking my buns!! i told hubs i want to move to oregon, very little humidity like all the stuff here!! LOL so we have 2 tumblers and 1 more ta do!! only we don't have the things going down the middle to break anything up!! LOL i pretty much took care of that step.
the bugs have pretty much moved on. tomarrow we'll go out and kill all that have not. the kids and i. they will learn how to do this. and talla will learn this, and she will learn that these are bad for her fairies, so she will want to put them in a jar or something like the other lady did. LOL i've got it figured out!! :') i did read your post! ~Medo

Here is a link that might be useful: compost in 14 days

Hey, that compost barrel is kinda like mine, only I don't put urine in it, or have that happy music playing when i'm rolling it around. Mine stays very moist from the UCG that I put in there.

ahhh, i use tea bags in mine, we go thru alot!! LOL ummmm tons!! LOL and some for the plants, hubs thought i was nuts, but then he looks at his rose (midnight owl climbing rose) and she's definately a rebloomer!! but i make tea for us and i brew one more pot, and then leave it in there overnight and have someone run it out to her, and if she has no blooms in a week or so she'll be FULL of blooms!! no kidding!! LOL i did that in the middle of winter, and it wasn't freezing, and danged if she didn't start her blooming, so i started talking to her, LOL ohhhhhh she absolutely LOVES that!! so i told hubs, that's definately a female, he BUSTED up!! LOL ya the music was kinda cool!! LOL i like the hmmmm.....today its southern rock!! yep, although talla had me listening to garth brooks's one album thingi he put out befor he did his tour. hubs won tickets to that and took tabor to it!! his first concert (tabors) LOL

and then it was christian wow from like a couple of years back, wait it was i could sing of your love forever. LOL she likes the woman singers!!! LOL **laughing at the thought!! LOL** she's definately a one of a kind!! LOL
ok the bread is done!! YAY tomato sandwhiches!! YAY nite!! ~Medo

Garth Brooks? Have you fallen and hit your head on something? The only concerts I have been to are: Dokken, ac/dc, great white, jackyl (twice), poison (twice), yngwie malmsteen, styx, cinderella (twice), reo speedwagon, survivor, faster pussycat, quiet riot, blackfoot, korn, hell yeah, five finger death punch, metallica, and winger. That's all I can remember. Whew! That hurt my brain...My daughter also likes the bands with women singers. She especially likes kittie, straight line stitch, arch enemy, flyleaf, nightwish, and of course evanescence. She's not a baby anymore...lol, She'll be 21 in february. You make bread????????? Oh god, I love homemade bread. My wife makes it maybe 4 times a year, and I just gorge myself with it. Tomato sandwiches are the BOMB! I pulled about 3 big red maters from my garden this morning, and laid them in the kitchen window....Tuesday night will be bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheese sandwich night. Have you ever tried it on the bread by pepperidge farms, that is made with oats? Oh god, you'll slap yourself hard, after eating that one.....the bread is very pricey, though. You can get it at the place where the loud person is...

i've seen dokken and aerosmith. poison and dokken, and it seems like they were with someone else. LOL starship and someone else. i think that's it. i like everything BUT rap and that line of music(well there is a VERY few select i like on that kind but i don't like the foul mouth stuff). hubs lets me know i'm VERY strange!! LOL now i have never heard any of the ones your daughter likes!!but we will look them up on youtube this week!! LOL WOW 21!~~ geeze!! LOL now if i'd had it my way my tabor would be 18, but GOD had other plans so he's 12. LOL ohhh ya!! have to make my own bread, and we had been using this other bread maker which i "thought" was the BOMB!!! then i decided, its not. NOPE!!! i like the one i got at a yard sale for -get this $5. LOL man, i way used that the up the very first day i got it!!! LOL my mom was totally tripping!! LOL so now i'm back to using that one, cuz i like it much better. it lets the yeast down when the flour and such is heated properly, so its perfect bread everytime. so if ya get a bread maker, make sure it has a yeast dispencer!! that's key!!! LOL
BLTC's are the best!! LOL i don't think i've tried that kinda bread. but i think i will!! just to see if i can make it too!! LOL we found a bat in our clothes outside on the line. WOW that was exciting, tabor was like MOM take it in, i'm like NOOOOOO so we built a bat house. can you say bat poo?? LOL that was my thought for it!! LOL (secretly)
hubs and my birthday both is in feb. on the 13th. LOL yep Both aquarians. makes for some real fun sometimes!! LOL
did i tell ya about the wasp and such trap i read about? i guess you take the soda bottle and cut the lid open and they said use some string to shut it and i thing punch holes in ti. put the sugary water in there and the wasps can get in but not out. what we did was drill holes in the pop bottles and NOT cut them. put the sugary water in and they can get in and not out. we used a 3/8"bit on it. just to make sure they could get in. :') now we wait and see. i hope i got the sugar water sugary enough!! ohhh and put them by the hummingbird feeder if you have a problem with them getting to your feeders. LOL man, i do!! they drank all of my hummingbird juice last time, even though it was gross!! i knew the hb werent around cuz of them so i thought, well if i let it get gross, maybe they wont be there anymore, nope the dang things STILL drank it. UGHHHH so then i read up on it in the hummingbird forum. LOL ~Medo

tonight i got one of those emails about the little boys, a really cute one, and about how you learn all these things aobu the ceiling fan won't hold and such, and how clorox and brake fluid makes alot of smoke. well i got to thinking, another thing, holes in the wall, LOL from BB guns tabor and i have so much fun shooting and then daddy caught us, and dangit!! he had to ruin all of our fun!!! no more. ya he's the grown up, tabor and i are the kids/redneck!! LOL we kept it to one area that was never used and always covered!!! LOL
so i had to say about that!! LOL i think this is my MOST favorite forum now!!! LOL did i tell ya he finished her outift?? it looks so nice!! it rained so much so we didn't get started on bed #3. hubs is surely happy about that!! LOL

Medo - yeah, little boys are something. I've actually got an identical twin brother, and we were the most destructive boys that you can imagine. I don't know how many times a cop car pulled up in our driveway, and asked my dad "Sir, do you know what your 2 boys did?" Oh god, I deserved every beating I got growing up. He was lucky that he was bigger than us, as he could definitely handle both of us at the same time. I'm a pretty big guy, but also the smallest male in my family. Everytime we have a family gathering, my 2 older sisters tell stories about what me and my brother did when we were growing up, and state that we were the meanest boys ever created. Ha Ha My brother tells me that I talk more junk than a three dollar radio, LOL I've just always been the comic of the family...can't ya tell? Anyway, this is my favorite forum also, the only problem I have is there's not enough participation by everyone.

it would be nice to hear everyone else's story's too!! LOL
i bet you were terrible as a child!! i could just see that!! LOL
hmmm.. i was good!! yep!! LOL for tha most part!! now i teach tabor all the onery things, and his daddy gets onto me about that, "what in the he** are ya doing??" ME: ummm nothing ME thinking: just trying to have some fun!!! LOL
