Good idea for the loopers. But I think the blossom drop is a separate problem.

As far as the blossom drop, not knowing your state and zone makes it hard for me to answer w/o writing a book as to what all the possible causes could be ;) (there's a field on your member page to enter that information).

But, in short -- blossoms drop when they fail to pollinate. Too hot, too cold, too much nitrogen, too much wind, too much humidity (can cause pollen to clump), plant stress in general can all contribute to excessive blossom drop. And not all blossoms set, even when conditions are optimal for doing so.
