Blossom drop and caterpillars

I have noticed some holes in the leaves of my tomatoes and bell peppers. Upon inspection I found little black dropping and that some of my blossoms had fallen off. More of the pepper blossoms but a few of the tomatoes. I did an inspection and found a cabbage looper. I've seen one on the plants before. Could these suckers be the reason my flowers are falling off? Let me also clarify, when I say falling off they look the stems have been chewed off behind the flower. Think I'm gonna bet some BT tonight. Any other suggestions? I don't know how picking them off by hand would be an option. My plants are huge and very close together. UGHH!! the joys of gardening!

Thanks,

Melissa
