double course cinder block

Setting the blocks today and it's going OK, a bit faster than I thought. Garden size is going to be close to 6.5 X 3+.

So I was reading SFG this morning at breakfast and he was talking about really only needing 6 to 12 inches of good soil.

My bed is 16 deep. rather than fill it totally with the good "mix", I was thinking that since I have a local source for cheap horse crap compost (which I will be using in my "mix") will it be OK to fill the first 8 inches of the bed with the 100% horse crap compost as a filler and then add the "mix" on top of it?

I can get the horse product for $1.84 per 3 cubic feet.
