This is my first year growing tomatoes. As the green fruit is coming out many of them are ending up looking like this.

Is this a pest or a disease?

As you can see from the pictures the damage seems to be happening in different places on the tomato. I did some reading about Blossom end rot, But this is happening on the sides of many of the tomatoes.
