I am in the process of down sizing the garden for the 4th time, everybody flew the coop except for the wife and they have there own gardens. The area where I will be putting my raised beds is app. 20ft X20ft. I have added tons and tons of compost and tilled this area for 36 years. When I till it in the spring it looks like chocolate cake. The soil has many worms and is highly productive. And I have not added any fertilizer for many years. I plan on raising my beds 8ins with 100% compost and coarse wood chips for walk ways. My question is do I need the paper or cardboard layer before I fill the beds with compost? And am I missing anything? John
