Knock Outs are patented roses and the patent lasts another 16 years.
The problem with starting roses out of patent in oasis is that the oasis persists and can cause rot because it does stay wet.

I have tried rooting tropical hibiscus in oasis without success.

I've had real good luck with semi-hardwood cuttings. I've rooted budleia, wygelia, hardy blue salvia, rose cuttings that I received in trade so I don't know what kind it is other than a small red that I just love! I even started daylily seeds in them last fall and they have grown about 30% larger than the seedlings I started in pro-mix. Now, you must get the oasis completely wet before placing the cuttings into it and keep them very most. I've had good luck keeping mine in the shade while they are rooting. Once they have roots that have grown thru the oasis, I pot them up into quart size pots. You must NOT!!!let the oasis dry out, the cuttings will die if you do. I always put the oasis under the soil and so far I haven't had any trouble with it rotting. All my cuttings that I started this way are put into amended soil so drainage hasn't been a problem. I started using this last fall, so I will be judging the success of this through next summer. If they survive this winter and next spring, I will let you know. You can remove the oasis if you want to before potting the cuttings up, just make sure the roots are big enough to stand a little disturbance when you are taking the oasis off. I took some off using a small knife to score the oasis and them simply breaking the oasis in half.

The only thing I have used the oasis for is some oak leaf ivy...they rooted good...some of you got them at the plant swap...how are they doing?
