moving to crossville,tn area...

Hi everyone,

first of all HAPPY THANKSGIVING..

Me and my kids decided to tell FLORIDA goodbye and relocate to TN in the next 6 monthes..I found a bunch of nice places,but since we are used to the heat, we decided not to go too far north.. So, my question is: is CROSSVILLE area a nice and safe place to move to?? please post everything possitive and negative, since this is a huge step and I am alone with my kids..

I am originally from Germany, so I love the 4 seasons..Also I grew up in the country and we are looking for a country home..

Hi

I am relocating from Louisiana to Cookeville TN on Dec 1st. Cookeville is about 40 miles from Crossville. I spent 2 weeks in Crossville about 3 years ago and I loved it. The weather is very diffrent from what we are used to but I look forward to the change. It does snow in Crossville and that is the only thing that concerns me. Will take some getting used to. It is a small town with lots of country places. Check out crossvilleonline.

We moved to Cookeville, TN, from Long Island, NY, several years ago. Cookeville is 30 miles west of Crossville. The Crossville area is on a higher elevation than Cookeville. There are four seasons but the winter here is very mild. We may get some snow but it will be gone in a day or so. My husband & I enjoy seeing the area via our motorcycle and went on a short ride on Thanksgiving afternoon. The scenery in Middle TN is beautiful. Cookeville is home to a university of about 9,000 students. Having a university in the town adds a lot of quality with lots of free events. Cookeville has its own symphony & Drama Center. It is not a big metropolitian area but definitely has a nice quality of life to offer. There are so many beautiful state parks within 20 or 30 minutes of Cookeville. Entrance to the parks are free and have a multitude of activities available. My husband is a licensed general contractor & has his real estate license. Even though our population is not very dense, we have a diverse population with the university & with many who have relocated to the area. If you come to the area, let me know ahead of time & I'll share any info. I might have. Tennessee definitely offers "the good life".

thanks for all those good infos..
I am still browsing the areas and found another nice one:
Lawrenceburg,Tn area..Also has lots of country homes etc..
Hmmm, I guess the best is if we come up and check it out..There are way too many nice places there.. :)
TENNESSEE, is your hubby doing realting only around Cookeville, or other areas also??
