Aunt Ruby's Geman Gold?

I have tomato seeds that someone sent me called Aunt Ruby's German Gold. When I 'google" it I can find almost no mention of it. Does anyone know this variety (and of course if it's good!).

Thanks!

Aunt Ruby's German Green is a well known variety. Could your seeds have been mislabeled?

I checked my 2011 Yearbook, I checked Tania's site and I Googled it and can find no mention of it. I didn't check for it at any of the European comprehensive sites such as Tomodori or Ventmarin

Not all seed sites are listed via Google so it could be somewhere out there.

There is a variety called German Gold, as in Mammoth German Gold, so would someone have made an error in writing Aunt Ruby's German Gold.

I can tell you that ARGG does cross easily so perhaps that's the origin of this variety after someone dehybridized the initial hybrid.

Unless someone comes along and knows about it if I were you I'd contact the person who sent you the seeds and ask for more information, especially with respect to whether or not it's genetically stable.

Oh, and I did check to see if it might be a gold/red bicolor derived from a natural or directed cross, but saw nothing.

So fingers crossed that someone will know about it before, well, you can still contact the person who sent you the seeds for more information in the meantime.

Another possibility is that they actually had Aunt Gertie's Gold and mislabled it.

Thanks for the replies. I also suspect maybe it is a labelling error. I will look back through my records and see if I can find who I got it from as I think it was a couple years ago. I was going to grow this variety this year (and I probably still will) but I don't want to label it as something that is not proper. If I can't contact my trader I will probably just label it as an unknown variety.

    Good idea Bets.

If you decide to grow it out and can't find out any info about it if you get a terrific tasting large gold beefsteak fruits on an indet plant with PL foliage, that's AGG.

But if you get________________ now I'm stuck, but anything else gold and beefsteak-like with RL foliage maybe it's what you have, whatever it is. (smile). And I suggest that only b'c the various varieties that came from Cherokee purple, such as Cherokee Chocolate and Cherokee Green and some others, all have RL foliage as far as I can remember.

Carolyn, who has known some others to get their "Aunts" mixed up as well, such as Gertie, Ruby, Ginny, etc.
