They may die off through the summer and resprout in the fall. You may even get lucky and they will come back next year. I did one year and mine lasted 6 or 7 years until I finally had to toss them this year.

Most florist mums are not hardy to this area, but hey, try planting them outside and see if they'll rebloom for you. You never know. The whole joy of gardening is in seeing what will grow for you and the happy little surprises when they do.

Lots of florist mums are disbudded, so you get a big, showy flower at the top instead of lots of lateral blooms. Often, then, your florist mum, if it comes back at all, will have reverted to its "natural" growing habit. I have lots of customers who tell me they have luck with the mums reblooming come fall. But I'm very reluctant to make any guarantees about anything that has been forced in a greenhouse out of season. Even bulbs, which are pretty reliable re-bloomers, can be fussy and I would really be
hesistant to make any promises.
