I wrote the FAQs in the Seed Saving Forum, and to this day is you google "how to save tomato seeds" the first link to pop up is my FAQ on fermentation, but I have long since abandoned fermentation because it can have inconsistant results, especially with beginners, who complain about duration of fermentation, the appearance, the cups sitting for days and attracting flies, etc. I now only clean tomato seeds with a sanitizing soak and scrub--and that is the 'easy tomato seed saving' method in the link above from WinterSown.Org. The process is 35 minutes, start to finish, with a half-hour break within that too.

Trudi - I guess I got lucky, if I remember correctly my first seed saving went pretty well and it was the traditional fermentation. Still I want to try your method sometime because it looks much easier.

catman529, it is very easy, and likely you have everything you need right in your own kitchen. And that's what I wanted to share the info; a method that wasn't complicated, or needed days of attendance, and no need to go out and buy something special.

Gosh, I hate opening my wallet ;-O
