Squirrels and groundhogs are a constant nuisance here in Richmond. Rather than fight them, I just plant an abundance - I always yield a large crop enough to cover all of us.

here is NOVA I'm dealing with squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, red foxes, coyotes, skunks, birds, and raccoons. Not sure who is getting to all my garden but its me against many. Like river_city says, plant for all and hope you get some. I take my tomatoes off the plants before they get really red and let them finish the last day inside. I get more that way.

Has anyone tried upside down tomatoes and has it deterred any of the thievery? I also am new to Virginia and this spring will be my first in the Fredericksburg area. Also what success have you had with the Virginia sun in partial shade v/s full sun?
