Most of the posters on this site are from N. Va or the Tidewater, of course that is where the population resides. I would love to hear from those who grow roses in SW VA. I'm in Roanoke, and I grow roses with no caustic sprays. I would love to hear what varieties others grow and what techniques you use.

I love roses! Most are the shrub roses because there isn't
much trimming to do. I like to grow mostly any nice flw
shrubs that have a nice flow. I do use Funginex for blackspot
and it has worked well for me. I like to use composted manure with a little dbl ground mulch.
Lately (over the past two years) I've planted many, many
Knockouts in my scape...lots of room...so...it works for me.
I'm just north of Danville (rural Chatham)

I'm further north - Charlottesville - but I grow gallicas, hybrid musks, damasks mostly, with a few miscellaneous types thrown in. I fertilize with RoseTone and don't spray; if it's not hardy with my benign semi-neglect, it doesn't get to stay.
