I have seen similar fattening recipes on some worm farm sites to increase the size of EF for bait.

I do use corn meal, ground bran flakes, alfalfa pellets and dried bread crumbs to thicken real soupy stuff like processed fruit to absorb the excess liquid to make a gruel or paste like feed stock. This augments the feed stock with diverse protein balance and helps me better control moisture in the bin. I really don't know if this increases the size of the worms. I think they're growing, but I've never taken measurements.

I have tried this. I did it for 2 weeks (only feed given) and the worms did get bigger. I experimented for people who wanted to use the worms for bait also. I also did it with just cornmeal or just chicken mash and they loved it and got fat too. We humans, once again, could learn a lot from observing worms..carb loving fatties that we are..:D...(um present company excluded of course).

What about left over cooked rice and mashed potato for mains and watermelon for dessert ... my worms Love them all. As it's summer here.. in Australia .. I buy more watermelon than we can posibally eat ... the worms love the stuff in the fridge that goes off. On purpose of course. Just a little bit breakdown material to start it all off. Lucky Worms.

I havent tried that but I have used my red wigglers for bait without that method. I just put them in some damp peat moss,that has been leached of its acid, overnight with some worm chow #5128 sprinkled on top. If you use a small hook and hook them under the clitellum (band) and in the back of the head they wiggle under water for up to 30 minutes, and the fish love them, if there are fish they will bite!
