I think you mean the SSE Yearbook and not the public SSE catalog. ( smile) The Yearbook is best not looked at as a seed catlog since access is restricted to SSE members only. Just my opinion.

I read over all three blurbs this AM and all I can say is that there doesn't seem to be that much difference between any of them.

So your best info might come from someone who has grown more than one of them in the same season.

Note that Super Sioux was a selection made by an individual, not offered by a seed Co as were Sioux and Super Sioux, the latter a selection from the original Sioux.

My understanding directly in a handwritten note from the couple who selected and offer Super Sioux Select is that they grew out and made their selections of Super Sioux over a period of years and after evidence of adaptation to their particular high plains soil and climatic conditions.

I have their letter in my files somewhere if you really need a direct quote, but I'm sure you can get all the information you need from them as they are very willing to share their seeds along with copious amounts of information about their gardens, growing conditions, and methods that they use in a challenging environment out in Colorado. Drop them a line.

Bill, in a rather lengthy entry in the 2008 SSE Yearbook they do describe their selection from Super Sioux, with lots of detail.

Carolyn

Cool. I hadn't read their entry for a couple of years. I got a letter from them last year that included a spread sheet of their stuff and a nice long narrative of their growing methods and climatic challenges. Their selection of Super Sioux sounds good for hot dry climates.
