Thank-you. I have seen Bentley's review. I wondered if he gave it great reviews because he was selling it. :) I was just wondering if anyone owned this product. I currently have a COW and am not entirely happy with it.

Bentley gave the Worm Inn positive reviews before he was selling it. I think he decided to sell it because he likes it so much.

What seems to be the issue with the COW?

I was happy with using a regular old plastic bin until even me living alone and eating out a lot was filling it rather quickly. Worm Inns can go through a ton more material at a quicker rate, plus the castings aren't soggy and they conveniently come out the bottom.

I'm pretty new to the Worm Inn, but it's pretty evident that it's superior to a plastic bin. I'd like to see someone make their own. I'm horrible at sewing or I'd go out and buy some cordura and a zipper.

I do not have a Worm Inn.

The Positives would seem to be:

Covered top means fruit flys stay put more

No need to lift four worm trays to get to the bottom one to harvest.

Oxygen is easily available to every part of the bin

Thus making the whole decomposition process faster

Harvesting could not be easier.

(Do worms stay away from the bottom?)

The system would seem to be ideal for newbies as it seems to address their bin too wet issues.

The Negatives would seem to be:

Small size due to engineering needs

Surrounding structure needs to be strong not wobbly

Easy air access means increased moisture needs

How long will "cloth" function?

I have read tray systems arrive with poor instructions. It would be good if the Inn arrived with instructions that include adding lots of bedding long after the initial set up.

I would think this would be the system with the most chance of sucess for a newby making lots of mistakes. But to learn to balance a system a bin is the Mt. Everest of accomplishments.

I am surprised cloth bag systems are not more popular. The tray concept if it did not require the tray shuffling would be great. Plus I can not fit a whole pumpkin into a tray.
