Hi All!

I hope someone will be able to answer the following questions after saying I started Vermicomposting indoors 17 months ago. I found it by accident.. IÂve composted out-of-doors for umteen years and living in Upstate NY where winters last several months IÂve now found in-door composting to have turned into a fascinating hobby, as well as a way of diminishing my Carbon Footprint, which was one of the reasons IÂve been composted out-of-doors for so long anway.

I went from having an amount of 48 worms that I counted back in December of 2005 to thousands since then. My original bin wasnÂt a bin at all, it was a plastic chicken rotisserie container, the handiest thing available at the time in October 2005. I was trying to save 12 Green Beetle Grubs for Trout Fishing. The 12 Grubs passed away and viola the beginning of a herd that magically appeared and then began breeding.

Now my question(s). IÂve gone from a container that once housed a $4.99 pre-cooked chicken, to 6 worm bins that I love tending to, IÂm sure those who have been vermiculturing for years know what the end results have been. Tons of worms...............I happen to be retired and I could easily return these worms back to their original surroundings but I was thinking that I could also possibly turn them into a few $Âs by selling them to a local "worm farmer".

First IÂm not thinking of getting rich but before I would make an offer to sell, would anyone know if a worm farmer would be receptive to buying a small amount of say 10 lbs or more and what I could expect $wise in return? Or rather what would be a fair price for me if I had to negotiate?

Also what would a fair price be if the worms were sold as adult by the lb?

Or sold as mixed?

I remember as a kid back in the late Â40's and early Â50's selling "red" worms that were gotten from the City leaf piles in the Spring and sold to the local "Bait Shop" for $5.00 a quart. It was a great deal of money back then for a kid, as I also remember gasoline was being between $.13 and $.17 a gallon. Does anyone remember the "Gasoline Price War's" of the '50's? WOW! have things changed.

I know that all monetary things are not reflective in todayÂs world but IÂm hoping youÂll understand my reasoning for asking :>)
