As a new vermicomposter (my worms will arrive next week!) I was trying to guestimate just how fast e.fetida might reproduce and grow. Given optimal conditions, I have read that the population will double every 3 months or so, but does this mean that the actual weight of worms (biomass) will more than double in that time?

Let's see...a mature worm can lay about 1 eggcase per week, and each eggcase contains 4+ eggs, which take ~3 months to mature to adulthood, at least this is what I've read.

Hmmm...that's quite a growth rate! It sounds exponential. What has your experience been? I'm asking because I am wondering how long it will take to fill the 5 trays in this new worm hotel...
