It really depends on how much rice you have fed them. Odds are, the bin is still fine. Some starchy foods will go moldy in the bin. This is just the way they break down. A huge amount of mold can overwhelm the bin, and there could be problems, but a small amount is fine. Eventually the mold will die, and the worms will have a feast.

I've had everything from pasta to bread to fruits and veggies go moldy before the worms got to them, and they've been fine. In fact, I've noticed that with some things, the worms won't even touch them UNTIL they go moldy.

I thought the mold was the bacteria they fed on. If not I might keep the food off the bin until the mold dies out before feeding it to the wormies. Thoughts on that?

Mold is a plant. Bacteria are animals.

In my mind, the best place to keep moldy food that you intend to feed the worms is in the bin. You just don't want to allow the whole bin to get choked with mold.

Fungi are plants. At least they were when I was in school. I guess they aren't anymore.

i don't know when classification systems changed but it's been that way since i was a schoolboy. (and bacteria are not animals, if i remember correctly.)

I've noticed that the mold has spread a bit to foodstuffs which were surrounding the rice, but it doesn't seem out of control or taking over the bin at this point. It also seems like since the mold has taken over the rice, the worms have moved into that area, when previously they wouldn't touch the "fresh" rice.
