I have 3 volunteer pumpkin plants in my back yard too. One of them stealthily grew up behind my raspberries, climbed a blackberry and then climbed onto a sunflower (and broke the sunflower stalk today). I am just going to let it keep going. The other two grew next to my chicken wire pea 'wall', so I helped them grow towards it and then tied it to the wire. One of those two plants found the volunteer sunflowers growing next to the wall and are now using the sunflowers like crutches and starting to head towards the railing on the deck to snake across that. I'm just letting these guys keep growing. I'm amused how the one just keeps looking for more area to stretch and has taken the path of least resistance; mostly by itself. Each plant has a pumpkin growing on it (one as big as a softball). I'll need to sling these up somehow.
