The instant gratification (sp?) girl inside of me just could not wait for my working 200 worms to multiply. I mean, there are six of us in this house and the compost pile is frozen solid 4-6 months of the year. We (I) need (it's a "want" really) to have enough worms working to consume our kitchen scraps by late September. I had to get more worms if I want 5 pounds by September. (Do you hear how I have justified my habit?!)

Last night, my very understanding husband purchased a pound more worms for me. Took about an hour searching the web to find some in Canada for a somewhat reasonible price.

They are shipping today and I should have them by Thursday. Got food out to begin rotting for them. Need to get some cardboard, and a sprayer for misting the top, too.

Do any of you add some compost to your worm bins to add more microbs? I chipped some compost out of my (FROZEN) pile and brought it in to thaw. After an hour I thought to look through it for "anything" and found a grub that squimmed quickly away. Took it outside to dump it and get a better look at the compost and could not find the grub again. Wondered what else might be hiding in there and decided to drop the whole idea.
