Hi everyone, I have been away for almost a year, but I am back now. Some of you will remember that I ran into all kinds of problems with my bins last time. Over feeding,causing too much moisture, heating up of the bins,sick and dying worms,worms that were dissappearing because the poor babies were being cooked and then the mites. Well those worms were put into the garden and composter. This last weekend I picked up another 5 pounds of worms...I have 1 1/4 pounds per 16 gal. rubbermaid bins. I put in my shredded newspaper,then added the worms with the compost that they travelled in, covered them with more dampened shredded newpaper. I let kitchen scraps in my large scraps container on the counter for a week before getting the worms, and this was their first feeding. About a cup and a quarter per bin. By Sunday evening many worms were at the food. Yesterday there were worms in all food courners, some in balls in the middle of the food pockets. I will not feed them again until this food is nearly depleted. Here's crossing my fingers and toes this time. I think I have done everything right, here's hoping. Nice to be back,
