I found that the greatest thing about vermicomposting was that you don't have to babysit worms like a dog or a cat or a chicken. With a little preparation the worms can take care of themselves for several weeks. And the other thing I found was that I don't have to check the worm bin every day to see if they're OK. Once or twice a week is more than often enough. If you have enough good bedding and some food and a good moisture level when you leave, your worms should be just fine. If it's feasable you might want to bring your bin in the house while you're gone just in case of a scorching stretch of weather that could cook your little guys. Cheryl
