I don't know if you have had any experience with Virginia Creeper but I've heard it will grow in the shade. It does not flower but rather has berries (very popular with the birds) in the fall. However it is a very tough vine. One thing though depending on how cold it actually gets in your area of Alabama is that VCreeper can be very invasive. I grow it here in Northern CA and find it very controllable but not everyone shares my fondness for the plant. Hope that helps.

What about Millettia Reticulata (Evergreen Wisteria). A really beautiful vine. It is NOT evergreen in my area but puts new growth each year.
