I purchased one (the single named variety I've seen) Eastern Prince or something like that, about 4 years ago. I got it because of the reported healthiness of its fruit and because it is advertised to grow well in shade.

For me its been a poor grower. I may have it in deeper shade than it prefers, probably about 75% of the day its in shade. it has bloomed for me twice, one year before I had placed it in its location (it was in a pot for a while) and I've seen no fruit.

Growth has been slow, it attaches by twirling stems (not like passifloras with pea-like twirleys, but like kiwi where stems curl around whatever they can find.

I am reducing its shade problem this year as we have two trees that will either go or be significantly reduced. This should help it in the future, hopefully. Were it disappointing me in a more desirable location of my yard it would have been removed before now.

btw....the flowers are quite small. dime sized if I recall correctly. Leaves are green, quite glossy and nice (though not as nice as Hardy Kiwi with the green leaves and red stems).

Thx for your feedback Chills. I fear the spot I have will also not provide adequate light for this vine. But for now I will let it stay and see what happens. Things have grown remarkably well in that particular soil before for some apparent reason...so I'll give it a little time and then decide upon possible relocation. Thx again for your help :-)
