Bleeding heart

I have a bleeding heart planted in the ground. We had a very very cold winter here and have no tree cover for protection. I did cover it, but it looks horrible, What are my chances of it coming back? This plant was my mothers and very sentimental to me!

These guys hate being moved. Did you just replant it last year? Was it in a similar climate ans soil? Give it good compost and wood mulch, water deeply in dry spells. Good luck!

Do you mean Dicentra scandens, or Clerodendrum thomsoniae? D. scandens is very old-hardy, but C. thomsoniae is quite tender---*maybe* Zone 8, but I was thinking Zone 9.
