I've been struggling with the same problem... I thought about using the Lee Valley wall trellis kit and then I ran across the idea to use wire panels with L brackets. Looks really sturdy to me.

Very cool - and I thought I was SO smart to do that very same set up on my cinder block wall this year - I'm glad it works so well! I've got pink jasmine on one already, and I'm planning to put passifloras, kiwi, sweet peas, and clematis on others. Of course the evil morning glory volunteers will probably love them too - ugh, hehe.

I've used that type of netting for squash and peas in the past. The MGs don't need that much room behind to wrap. If you hang it on some sort of hook, just don't have it flush against the house - pull it forward slightly giving it about 1/4" - 1/2" of gap behind.
