anything that that was once alive .... anything that would be food for you or an animal, fresh or cooked or rotten .... anything :)

be aware that worms actually eat the decomposer organisms, not the food waste, and until the stuff gets actively decomposing, they can't do anything with it [no teeth!] .... meaning you need to get some stuff decomposing so they don't go hungry from the start .... also one of the most critical things is moisture, worms breathe the oxygen in the moisture on their skins [no lungs!], dry = dead

I agree with what Bill said.

I find Pumkin goes quickly, also sweet things like pineapple, canteloup, other fruit. Fruit can sometimes start to ferment. In moderation it doesn't seem to matter.

Your posting is from awhile ago, so you may have already found out (the hard way!) what works and doesn't...but here's my 2 cents.
I've always kept away from meat and oil. ie mainly fruit and veggie peels, egg shells are okay (crushed or whole). For a newbie, i'd keep away from citrus peels, and when you're more used to the system, add them only in moderation. Anything with seeds (like watermelon seeds) the seeds will be present in the finished product, something to think about if you want to use it for your garden or potting soil.
The worms will LOVE anything from a juicer--that's probably a great thing to get them started on.
