I have a red honeysuckle and it gets powdery mildew by mid summer every year. It doesn't seem to affect the plant but it is kind of unsightly. I'm also in MD and with our hot humid days and cool humid nights it's almost impossible to keep powdery mildew off of some plants. My lilacs get it bad as did my roses. I finally gave up on the roses because of not only mildew but terrible Black Spot. You can dust with a fungicide or just make sure the plant is pruned to allow good air circulation.

I think I'm going to leave them in place this year and move them to the back yard fence next year. They're planted in whiskey barrels which will probably need replacing next year.
I think I'll replace them with Jasmine ... Carrol Gardens in Westminster has a variety that survives in zone 6... so should do okay .... and it's evergreen which is what I really want in that spot. Don't think it smells as good as honeysuckle.
what part of Maryland do you call home? I'm halfway between Washington and Annapolis. Lots of red clay.
